A little bit about me
Ye random Internet traveler: surely you aren't interested in wading through
my entire life story! But I will feed your appetite for information by
giving you the following tidbits/trivia:
|
| Me (in the middle) in a recording session with the American Boychoir. We were recording
the soundtrack to Wide Awake |
- On September 1, 2006, Jeff Bezos handed me a Nike shoe on stage in front of
the whole company (Amazon.com). This is what you get for winning the "Just Do It"
award there. Apparently Jeff didn't hold a grudge from earlier that summer when
I participated in a nerf-gun-related coup against him at our technology offsite (he started
it).
- I am crazy about choral singing, especially early music (Bach and before).
I sing in three choirs, including the unique
Compline Choir and
the fabulous professional ensemble
The Renaissance Singers.
- I was interviewed for this
book
- I boarded for three years (6-8 grade) at a choir school in New Jersey
called The American
Boychoir, which involved touring all over the US and Europe,
singing with famous people, and recording three CDs.
- I am a cancer survivor.
- My instrument in college (for my music major) was the organ, despite the
fact that I never took lessons prior to college (and had almost no lessons
in piano either).
- In high school I briefly played the bass in a punk band whose highlight was a
song called "Fuck you Jerry Falwell." At the time I didn't know who
Jerry Falwell was, and I was sort of oblivious to what the band was all about.
When we played at our high school talent show, some people walked out.
That made me sad.
- I have composed one piece for choir. It is a Kyrie
based on Gregorian Chant, in the style of Maurice Durufle. It is going to
be performed at the 11am service at St. Mark's Cathedral on Feb 10, 2008!
